Chapter Eleven

I think I made some new friends at the center. I might even make it into some final wills and testaments, according to the frisky senior citizens. One poor man with dementia thought I was a stripper and tried to shove a dollar bill down… well we won’t mention it. Good thing I have good reflexes and he had poor aim.

Ryan was a huge fan of the outfit. I texted him a picture of it before we left for the nursing home to get his opinion. His response: Please tell me you get to keep it.

I admit, once I forgot I looked like Mrs. Claus’ naughty twin, I enjoyed my time at the nursing home. It reminded me how blessed I was to have family and friends around. With each gift I delivered, I took the time to talk to those who could or wanted to. Even if they couldn’t speak, I would take their hand, anything to let them know they weren’t alone. I tried to keep the holly jolly attitude from the nursing home all weekend, especially when I entered the lair, I mean home, of Celia McLaughlin, Felicity’s mother the following day. Candy and Eden, her sisters-in-law, were throwing the shower, but Celia was hosting at her home in Longmont, about a half hour away from Loveland if the traffic was decent. Celia was an interesting character to me; her home and lifestyle were simple. Her husband— Felicity’s father— had died several years ago, leaving Celia to
